Chandler, AZ; March 21, 2006 — Space Data Corporation, a company providing wireless data services in rural and remote areas, today announced the appointment of Robert S. Dickman to its Board of Directors. Mr. Dickman will play a key role on Space Data’s leadership team by providing strategic direction for the company’s government and military near space capabilities.

Mr. Dickman is Executive Director, American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA), Reston, Virginia, and a member of the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. He is a retired Air Force major general with more than 30 years of experience in space operations, acquisition and planning, including assignments at the Pentagon, North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Space Command and Air Force Space Command, and the National Reconnaissance Office.

“Bob Dickman’s addition to our Board comes at a time when our military forces need a responsive alternative to traditional battlefield communications systems,” says Space Data Chairman & CEO Jerry Knoblach. “His extensive experience in major military acquisition programs will serve as an invaluable source of direction and guidance in Space Data’s efforts to develop and deploy balloon-borne communications capabilities for the warfighter.”

Before assuming his current responsibilities at AIAA, Mr. Dickman served as Deputy for Military Space in the office of the Undersecretary of the Air Force. There he supported the undersecretary in managing the planning, programming and acquisition of space systems for the Air Force and the other military services. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in physics and Master’s degrees in space physics and management.
